One of my best friends told me about a conversation she had recently with a guy she’d just met. They were discussing whether they were soulmates, and they realized they weren’t operating on the same definition of that term. He was saying “soulmate” to mean something like she means when she says “divine complement” or “twin soul;” she, herself, has a much more expansive (and not-always-romantic) definition of “soulmate.” She and I recognize each other as soulmates, in fact — a concept which would probably have confused that guy, who seemed to believe that we have only one of these.
Some people distinguish between “divine complements” and “twin souls/twin flames” (and even some distinguish further still between twin souls and twin flames). Perhaps it’s a matter of simple ignorance here on my part, but I use the term “twin soul” to refer also to “twin flames” and “divine complements.” But it’s worth a quick summary on the slight distinctions between these concepts so that you can rest easier about the likelihood of finding what you are looking for, and so you can put a term to it. :)
